The Time Deck

The Time Deck consists of 36 cards – rather like a Doctor Who themed tarot deck. Each card has an upright and a reversed meaning, depending on the way it is facing when it is drawn. The cards are described below.

Every card has situations for which it is positive ( + + ), adding two levels of effectiveness to a character’s Aspect or Science score. There are situations for which it is useful ( + ), adding one level. However, there are other situations where the card is useless ( – ), deducting a level of effectiveness, or even negative ( – - ), deducting two levels of effectiveness.

A reversed card has the opposite set of meanings, with positive ( + + ) treated as negative ( – - ) and useful ( + ) treated as useless ( – ) and vice versa. Sometimes the reversed card has a positive ( + + ) meaning of its own. Optionally, this meaning can be treated as negative ( – - ) if the card is drawn upright.

The Vortex Card has a variable meaning, based on whatever the Flux Card for the planet or adventure is.
